Hellboy II - not as good as the first, but not half-bad either for a superhero movie

It was 4 in the morning and I'd already listened to Rush. TV sucks rights now in the middle of the night. Besides, we're renting it this weekend.

True, I guess. But jeez, you could have woken me up or something, I wouldn't have minded[and you've totally done it before ] Just got done watching Tropic Thunder and zomg. I would have died laughing had not my imminent demise been drowned out by the hyenas that are my parents. Robert Downey Jr. is now officially my favorite actor ever.

I have to concur with the Ammy. Tropic Thunder was absolutely hilarious. The first five minutes alone would have been worth the rental price, and it just got better from there. Some of the names in this might surprise you. Nick Nolte and Tom Cruise in particular did an outstanding job as far as those actors involved in supporting roles. Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black and Ben Stiller were all phenomenal.
Warning: This is not a movie for young children. There is a lot of cussing, and otherwise crude humor. However, it is not your typical crude crap like Zohan and the crap from the group that did Super Bad. It is specifically a mockery of such language and humor, and it damn near had me rolling on the floor.
And you had school the next morning, plus babysitting duty.

Tropic Thunder is one of my movies of '08. An absolute hoot. I can't wait to get it on dvd or blu-ray, apparently there's a mockumentary on it.
Anyhoo...I watched The Lion King with my daughter.

I disagree. I believe you're speaking of Tinman? I really did enjoy that, but...it just can't top the original.

I never like the original, so I guess I'm biased. It always seemed a little cheesy to me, and then they played it ALL the time when I was young, so I kind of burned out on the story line. Then again, I'm not one for that particular kind of fairy tale I guess, so don't let my grumpiness turn anyone off the movie. It is after all a classic.

I watched Baby Mama and Tekkon Kinkreet.
Baby Mama :: I heard a lot of good things about this one, but I actually didn't really find it too exceptionally funny or good. It seemed pretty average to me and very corny. Not much else to say about it because it just didn't really stand out that much, IMO.
Tekkon Kinkreet :: Wooooow. This one was really good. It's a Japanese anime, but it's really amazing. It's about two children, Shiro and Kuro (White and Black) who try to defend their town and fight against yakuza, eachother, and themselves. I'm not even sure what the plot was, it wasn't very easy to follow. But that didn't really matter to me because it was just that good. Haha.
The animation/visuals were amazing, and the character development and such was amazing as well. I definitely reccommend this.

I watched Hancock this weekend. Holy crap, that was good. I laughed myself silly, and it was generally fairly kick ass. As a caveat, parts of it were a little predictable, there was too much foreshadowing in the behavior of Charlize Theron's character, and the sudden switch from sweetness and light to Mrs. Bad ass for her character was a disconnect the movie didn't need. I loved the concept though, and Will Smith, as always, was outstanding.
PS I kind of liked Baby Mama when I saw it. It was surely not the best movie ever done, and fairly predictable, but not bad for a typical romantic comedy. It made me laugh several times, which is more than I can say for most romantic comedies these days.

Eh yeah I liked Hancock but you're right, it was very predictable/corny at some parts and the transition that Charlize Theron's character went through was a bit hard to register. And wth was up with his suit? Blah! xD
I actually didn't find Baby Mama too funny, but yeah it was a decent movie to say the least.

Ahahaha, I LOVED Will Smith's suit in Hancock. It was freaking amazing.
Anyway, I watched this movie in history on Andrew Jackson. I hate him. SO much.

Twilight, then Wall-e
I wish they made Twilight a miniseries on sci-fi or something. to fit all of the plot in. and maybe have gotten better actors.
and wall-e was cute. I smiled the whole time.

A lot of people that I've talked to say that Bella's actress Kristen Stewart did a horrible job and so did Robert Pattinson... which makes me sad because Kristen Stewart is a very talented actress. I've seen multiple movies she has done and she has always done an amazing job. I think, though, the fact that the two main characters of Twilight are the two characters that most people weren't satisfied with isn't a coincidence. Those are some huge shoes to fill. With a book, a lot of what makes up a character comes from your own interpretation and imagination. Plus, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart didn't really have much chemistry, so that probably screwed both of them up. Alright. So. I watched 5 movies on the plane to Shanghai and one movie on the plane from Shanghai. Oh and then I watched another movie when I got back. I need to do my homework. ;D Get Smart :: I thought this movie was hilarious, and it was a lot of fun to watch. However, I've never really been too into that type of humor (the kind that Steve Carell always does). Also, it was really really cheesy at the end, which was probably appropriate for this movie, but I've never really liked that kind of thing. It was funny though and entertaining and very enjoyable. I loved Anne Hathaway! Tropic Thunder :: This was a hilarious movie. Absolutely freaking hilarious. I actually got my dad to watch it but he didn't watch the whole thing because it was a bit too over-the-top for him. That's why I liked it though. Wanted :: I have a high opinion of this movie because the visuals/atmosphere was amazing, the action was amazing, and the effects were amazing. I thought this movie was VERY nicely done. However, I can definitely see some faults with it. There are a few aspects of the plot/story that were a bit iffy and unrealistic, and the effects and such were also very unrealistic. But I wasn't exactly paying attention to that because I love action. ;D I don't remember who, but someone said that this movie is very good. But, you just have to remember that it's a summer action movie. Very true. Wall E :: This movie was absolutely adorable. That's really all I can say about this movie. It was freaking adorable. xD I loved it. In Bruges :: Overall, this was a good movie. It was about 2 hitmen who had to escape to a town in Belguim called Bruges, and it's a very interesting concept. Its style and the general atmosphere of the movie was also very nice. I found the beginning to be a bit dull, but after a while it started picking up the pace and I ended up enjoying it. That might be because I'm a sucker for sad movies though. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull :: Ehhh. It's Indiana Jones. It's gonna be cheesy. ;D I just watched it because my dad liked it. There were some good action parts and some interesting plot turns, but overall I didn't really like it. It was just waaay too cheesy for me. The Invisible :: I loved this movie, and I thought it was just going to be another b-movie with bad actors that used to be Disney stars or something. I watched it anyway, though, because it looked interesting from the preview. ;D The plot wasn't very original and it was very predictable in a few places, but overall I loved it. The atmosphere and the general "feel" of a movie is a big thing for me, I think, and this movie did not disappoint in that respect. I thought the actors did a great job as well, especially the girl. It was a very touching story too, and like I said, I'm a sucker for sad movies.

I suppose my most recently watched movie is Twilight. I know, it's pathetic, I've seen it twice and both times were in opening weekend. >_<'' I have to say, it was better the second time. I didn't like Kristen and Rob's performances, though I know they're great actors. They didn't have much chemistry at all, but I think individually, when they weren't together (which was rare), they did well.
I didn't like how the movie was shot. There were way too many close ups, and to be honest, both times I saw it, I acquired a headache. But that doesn't mean I'm bashing the movie in any way! I thought it stayed pretty close to the books, and I thought the rest of the actors did a brilliant job.
All I have to say is...
Team Jacob? Team Edward? What's wrong with Emmett? =D

NO! IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CARLISLE!!!!!
*ahem*
Uhhhh.
Shoujyo: An Adolescent. It's a tad bizzare. If the thought of a 40 something guy and a 15 year old girl having sex makes you uneasy don't even think of watching this. But it's a moving love story none the less. I expected something borderline softcore porn. But it had a good enough plot to keep me entertained. It's hard to make me find something morally wrong with a movie to the point where I wont watch it. It dragged in the middle a bit. And the ending is predictable the moment you find out who the girl is. but I liked it.
Arang Thank you asian horror for being as predictable as ever. Mild twist. I'm daft so I didn't see it coming but when it did I was like "hmmm.... lame" If the asian horror genre is one of your favorites like it is for me. It's worth the rent. I'll probably watch them all praying for one with an original plot. like:
Bloody Reunion The twist is a cheat. But the torture scenes are so original I couldn't help myself. It was worth it JUST to see someones eyes get stapled open. Very Eli Roth feel to it when it came to people dieing. The plot was nice. I liked finding out why all the people had resentment to the teacher. My boyfriend isn't a fan of horror at all but he was just as entertained by this as I was.
