I work on a friggin' computer. I use the internet daily. I truly enjoy these lovely little conversations, and God knows I watch too much TV, and enjoy it. But, I swear that there are days I wish a massive EMP would come along and wipe out every piece of technology in existence.
Computers suck!!!!!!!!!!
My mom got me a laptop last year because my old desk top died. It started out great. It was really powerful. It had wireless and ethernet. I used it all the time. Then, the battery stopped working. That was okay, but then the computer stopped recognizing the ac adapter. Shortly thereafter, the internet connection speed started getting sluggish, and it literaly started taking 5 minutes or more to boot. Now this comuter is sucking too, because it just took more than two minutes for the last line to show up. Please excuse any typos, I don't have the patience to try to fix them at the moment.
So, anyhoo, I finally decided to try to fix my laptop the otehr day by restoring it. Well, the system restore points only go back 1 month, which is way before I started having trouble. So, then I tried the factory reset, and the directions in the manual were wrong about how to get to it. Then I finally found the way to get to it, and started the process, and low and behold, after reformatting my hard drive, it stalled have half way through the restore process. The computer completely froze, twice. So then, I had to track down where my install disks were, since it's nothing but a paper weight without the programming. So, I got the damn reinstall disks that came with the system. I set the partition for the stupid Meida program thing on it. Then I started the reinstall. It formated the hard drive, copied the files, and then froze 70% through the expand files part. So far, I've screwed with the bios settings to remove the power cord warnings and the battery, because that's the only error the diagnostic program found. And I still have it stall, every time between 35-70%. I am about to tear my hair out.
Computers seriously, royally, massively suck.
The real kicker? This is a Dell machine. It came with a warranty for a year. If I hadn't been so lazy about getting it fixed, I would have checked into that earlier. Instead, I only looked at that the day before yesterday, which was the 22nd. The warranty expired on the 19th. Some days it's just not worth gnawing through the straps.
