Thsi guy attacked me earlier becuase he thought I was atheist and asked me how I felt about something becuase I was atheiast. I am not an atheist, nor am I unsure how to answer his question so here it is:
How do you feel about using the calendar that counts away from Jesus' death. As in the year is 2008 and therefore 2008 years from his supposed death. How does that make you feel? Etc. etc. etc.
(If there's something snarky you do/say about it , tell me, I'd like to throw it at his face)

I'm not an atheist either but I don't use BC or AD. I use BCE and CE. Before Common Era and Common Era. Not because I have anything against using BC and AD but just because I like being different I once got a similar question from someone. I replied that it wasn't 2008 it was 2761

Eh, whatever. Most everyone on this planet knows this year as the year 2008. Why make such a big deal out of it? I would also prefer to use BCE or CE, but unfortunately, most people don't know what that is. I don't think it should be a big deal.
But I'm agnostic, so... Any actual atheists want to answer the question? xD

I'm not an atheist (gasp), but personally I'd probably have told the guy to shove it up any one of several orifices. I hate preachy people.

Oh well. 2000 years too late. ;D He did it wrong too! Jesus was born 4 to 6 years before christ. How does that happen?!

I personally don't see the big deal of it. The way I think about it, we just happened to use BC and AD because the Gregorian calender, the calender that most of the world uses, happened to be endorsed by the Roman Catholic Church. I'm sure if the Catholic Church wasn't formed, it would have been different. But that's how it happened. Much like people say "Goddamnit" or "What the hell" or something related when they're frustrated or angry. They might not even believe in God or hell but because the culture around them considers them words of anger and frustration, they use them.

Haha. My mum refuses to use BC because she's a fundamentalist Christian and very well knows Jesus wasn't born in year 0. I'm something of an atheistic agnostic..I mean, I don't believe in God, but I don't say it's impossible..anything is possible! ... and I think BC/AD ( hehe, sounds like AC/DC *ahem* ) is just part of the culture and really not a religious issue. I mean, what the heck? I love Baudelaire, and he uses his fair share of Christian symbolism. But that's not what he's about. I seriously doubt Baudelaire was really that religious, eheh. And back then, it may even have been an issue. Nowadays, who cares enough about 'principal' issues to endlessly bicker over them?! Let's just share the luuurv man xP Oh. yeah. Sorry, some annoying Atheists and the JW's of course ;D

Ha I like this one. Ok, for those of you that don't know, I have no religion, though people try to label me with one all the time. I have even been called atheist before. Anyway, I have never thought of the current year in a religious manner, nor do I chose to. I say its 2008 because it currently is. My phone says it, my calendar says it, my computer says it, and occasionally my girlfriend says it...funny thing though. I look at all those things and see no collation between them and the death of Jesus. Hmm odd
