Genre: Action MPAA Rating: R (for violence) Summary: In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions: Books, art and music are strictly forbidden, and feeling is a crime punishable by death -- a rule that's enforced by feeding the denizens a mood-limiting drug. John Preston (Christian Bale) is a top government official responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. But when he misses a dose of his own medication, he experiences a pang of conscience. Post here to discuss, review, or ask questions about the movie.

Personal Review (Spoilers):
Being an avid fan of dystopian fiction such as 1984 or Brave New World or the video game, Half Life 2, I took a particular interest in this film. Of course, there was also Christian Bale, an amazing actor. So it was with great interest that I watched this film. However, when I finished, I was feeling slightly content but not all too satisfied. The gun scenes were magnificent even though Bale's movements seemed too mechanical. As for the plot, it moved rather well in the beginning, then slowed in the middle, then just went really fast in the end, which threw me off. But overall, I enjoyed this film
7/10

I thought the plot was fascinating myself, and the action scenes were great. And I agree, I was not completely satisfied either, but I enjoyed the film nonetheless.
And it's weird, whenever people say that the plot moves really slow, I never notice it. xD Maybe I'm extremely patient or something.

I really liked this movie. But Keyodie, you know this. You're sitting here making strange noises as I type this. Oh, "Trying to make the highest noise possible." Good luck with that. =) Anyway! I think Christian Bale did a very good job; I wouldn't have been able to sit there and seem so apathetic throughout the whole movie. 'Twas pretty intense. And the whole idea of it was awesome too; like Caunion, I'm a huge fan of dystopian fiction, so it was exciting to be able to see a movie based on it. Ermm.. As for the pace of the movie, I thought it was pretty evenly paced. I didn't find it boring at all or slow moving... But I wasn't very satisfied with the ending. )= Although it was good!
So yes. That's my two cents. =)
8/10

I didn't find anything wrong with his fight scenes. I think as part of the story line they were MEANT to look so mechanical. Because everyone acts the same way.
I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and christian is one of my favorite actors. I saw the ending coming a mile away. I knew who "Father" was from the beginning.
All in all I give it an 8/10 because I did think it dragged at some points. I have an incredibly short attention span.
