As with BotM, here you can suggest any movies that you think should be the next movie of the month. About a week or so before the first day of December, I will post a poll with the movies that are up for nomination. What would be helpful is a description of the movie along with the genre and MPAA rating (if it's unrated, be sure to tell us). Some questions:- What do you think we should do about ratings?
- Are you allowed to watch R rated movies?
- Do you think horror and gore movies would be a bad idea for MotM?
- What about foreign films? Though it would be a great way to bring some variety to MotM, they may be a bit hard to get for people who don't have netflix are bittorent. Also, subtitles/dubs get on some people's nerves.
- What if we assigned maybe 2 episodes of a TV show for "movie" of the month?

Little bit late on this, I think everyone's been busy with school and whatnot lately. Since I haven't seen it yet, I'd like to suggest the movie Pi: Genre: Thriller, Sci-Fi MPAA: Rated R for language and some disturbing images. Summary: In Manhattan, behind six locks, lives Max Cohen, a mathematician and computer whiz. Since staring at the sun at age six, he's had terrible headaches; plus, he can't abide human contact except with an aging professor, and he's obsessed with finding numeric patterns. His current obsession is the stock market; his theories bring him to the attention of Wall Street traders. He also keeps running into Lenny, a fast-talking Hasidic who fronts for a cabal that wants to rediscover long-lost mathematical mysteries in the Torah. Neither group is benign, and they pursue Max as his hallucinations and headaches worsen. Does nature offer any solutions? Can Max find them? # What do you think we should do about ratings? As in G-R ratings, or 1-5 starred ratings on how good they are? For the first, I think it would be...prudent to put a rating on there, but people can always go see for themselves if they're concerned. As for stars, I don't see a problem with someone posting reviews and their synopsis, so it seems silly not to allow star ratings. # Are you allowed to watch R rated movies? Yes, I am, but I live with a lot of youngin's so I have to be careful about what time and where I watch R movies. Other than that, I don't see problems with it. # Do you think horror and gore movies would be a bad idea for MotM? I think they shouldn't be an every-single-month type thing, but occasionally is fine. I'm not into it, but a lot of people here are. # What about foreign films? Like I said on the gore thing, I think it can be done every once in a while but not all the time. If not very many people are interested, we can have two movies one month, one normal and one foreign so that everyone has an option of discussion, whatever the content. # What if we assigned maybe 2 episodes of a TV show for "movie" of the month? Depends on the tv show, really. I can go through six episodes of Doctor Who without breaking a sweat, whereas I have to take Charmed or Angel in small doses, even though I like them just the same. I guess it depends on the person, too. Let's see what everyone else says.

Yeah, I meant G to R ratings. =] Thanks for answering the questions! I would also like to see Pi since RfaD was amazing.
And the three movies a month thing you mentioned seems like a great idea.

I posted this movie for last month but I'll post it again: American Beauty Genre: Drama MPAA Rating: R (For strong sexuality, language, violence and drug content) Summary: Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey) is struggling to endure marriage to uber-realtor Carolyn (Annette Bening), an unfulfilling career and a sullen teenage daughter (Thora Birch). Deep into a midlife crisis, Lester becomes infatuated with a friend (Mena Suvari) of his daughter. Soon, he's quit his job and is working at a fast-food joint in this dazzling blend of social satire and domestic tragedy from director Sam Mendes that scooped up five Oscars.
