Es: The bible also says treat people the way you would like to be treated. Right? Yeah, but not all of us here believe in the Bible, so that doesn't apply equally. My thought on that is this, if a person is being abrasive, assume they are following that rule, and be abrasive if you want, just stay on topic. You do realize I'm God's mother, right, therefore I am superior, and all I believe is right and better... (Darn fingers are taking over my brain again. They're a little megalomaniacal.) Seriously, who says your opinion isn't better, or superior. There are ideas that are better than other ideas. If you think yours is, you shouldn't be afraid to say so. Just understand, the other guy thinks the same thing and will probably try to prove you wrong, oh wait, that's kind of the idea, so I guess that's cool. You too, huh? Some of my best thoughts come while I sleep.

LT: The bible thing was a direct response to Es saying that the bible says that to respect ones elders. [says that says that says that.... there wasn't enough says thats]
And my best thoughts come from suffering sleep deprivation, along with my best jokes, coolest pictures, and most creative jewelry.

Es: The bible also says treat people the way you would like to be treated. Right? Right. I have to apologize because I re-read my post and I realize that I probably came across as a bit grouchy. Sometimes, when I'm online I'm ten times more bold than I would dare to be in person...Anyways, that's beside the point. I probably didn't word my thoughts about respect correctly, but LT summed it up pretty well. So...if you don't mind me asking, what's your point?

My point? Actually it is that thing on the top of my head, but some times my hat covers it.

Es: My point was that it should be about respecting everyone, and you only touched on respecting elders. And then used the bible as your reason.
Which is fine.
But I wanted to point out that the bible -also- says to respect everyone, no matter what.
So my point was only directed to you. Like it says up there, in my other response.

Okay, so I have to point out something that made me pout, and then seriously made me laugh. During the course of this conversation my Karma points went up to 8. Since I started posting elsewhere in the debate forum again, they have been dropped down to 7. In other words, I have been smited, for the first time that I'm aware of. LOL. Again, I'd have to ask why? Other than perhaps that I have *gasp* offended someone. But, again, why? I did exactly what everyone in this thread supposedly has been asking for, spoke my opinions without being derogatory toward the people talking here, but with honesty and bluntness. So, while I suppose my ego can handle my Karma hits (although I was really trying hard to catch up with Keyodie), I have to wonder exactly how honest everyone has been in stating that people here are welcome to speak their minds. Just a thought...

Just because someone clicks on a button doesn't mean that people here are unwelcome to speak their minds. It's just a button and a number. I don't really think it's that big of a deal.

Absolutely, which is why, like I said, my ego can take it. But, it still begs the question. Why should my "goodness" rating, for lack of a better word, drop because I vocally began to disagree with the majority in a couple of other topics? To me, you're right, it's not a big deal. I was just curious about what might have triggered it, and what those reasons indicate about the ideas we've been talking about in this thread. Like I said, I do believe that's the first time I've gotten basically what amounts to negative feedback. That always makes me curious.

Ah, I see. Well I think that's exactly why karma shouldn't be taken too seriously, because it's basically "the majority" opinion of someone. The more people of one side there are, the more positive karma a person on that side will have. If someone seriously pisses me off, I might smite them. If someone says something that I agree whole-heartedly with, I might exalt them. But yeah, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. xD
